App snapshots

AppShot lets you bring the current foreground window directly into a task without taking and attaching a screenshot manually. Press the global shortcut and Qoder captures both the window image and its accessibility text, then adds them to the current task composer. Review the captured context and add the outcome you want before sending. Typical moments it helps: you hit an error message in the browser, notice a UI detail in a design tool that needs feedback, or see terminal output you're not sure about. Instead of manually screenshotting, switching apps, pasting, and describing — just press the hotkey. The screenshot and text land in the conversation together, giving the AI complete context immediately.

When to use AppShot

• Capture a browser error together with its visible page text for diagnosis.
• Point to a design or application state that needs explanation, comparison, or revision.
• Preserve visible terminal or desktop-app output as context for a task.

AppShot adds context; it does not send the task or operate the captured app. To let the Agent click or type in desktop applications, use Computer control.

Set the global shortcut

1. Open Settings → Computer control.
2. Under AppShot, open Global shortcut.
3. Select ⌘ + ⌘, ⌥ + ⌥, ⇧ + ⇧, or Disabled. The default is ⌘ + ⌘.

Capture context for a task

1. Open the task that should receive the context.
2. Bring the target desktop window to the foreground.
3. Press the configured global shortcut.
4. Return to Qoder and review the screenshot and accessibility text in the composer.
5. Add the goal, expected result, and any restrictions, then send the task.

When several windows are open, verify that the intended window is in front before triggering AppShot. For a dynamic page or temporary dialog, also describe the action that produced the captured state.

Permission Requirements

App Snapshots needs two macOS system permissions to work:

• Accessibility — reads the interface text and structure of the frontmost app to extract content the AI can understand.
• Screen Recording — captures the screenshot of the current screen.

The first time you trigger the shortcut, macOS shows the corresponding authorization dialogs. Complete authorization, then trigger AppShot again. The permissions remain available until you revoke them in System Settings.

Troubleshoot a capture

• If no screenshot appears, check Qoder's Screen Recording permission.
• If the screenshot appears without useful text, check Accessibility permission. Canvases, videos, and custom-drawn interfaces might not expose accessibility text.
• If the wrong window is captured, bring the target window to the foreground and trigger AppShot again.
• To stop using the shortcut, choose Disabled under Settings → Computer control → AppShot → Global shortcut.

Continue to Computer control to let the Agent operate your mouse and keyboard after you grant access.
