# Skills

> Find, install, create, and use reusable task capabilities.

Skills package instructions and supporting resources for a repeatable kind of work. Use one when you want Qoder to follow a specialized workflow—for example, document processing, code review, or environment cleanup—instead of explaining the same process in every task.

## Find a Skill

1. Select **Extensions** in the left sidebar.
2. Open the **Skills** tab.
3. Browse by category, switch between **Popular** and **Newest**, or select **Search** and enter a keyword.
4. Open **View details** to review the Skill's description and publisher before installation.
5. Select **Install**.

Use **Installed** to find Skills already available on this device. If the marketplace content is stale, select **Refresh market** and try again.

## Use a Skill in a task

Start a task and describe the result you need. Qoder can select a relevant installed Skill from its description. To choose one explicitly, type `/` in the task input and select the Skill from the suggestions before adding the rest of your instruction.

<Tip>Give the Skill the files, workspace, constraints, and expected output it needs. A Skill provides a workflow, but it still relies on your task context.</Tip>

During execution, review requested permissions and the resulting files or external actions. Installing a Skill does not remove the normal access controls for a task.

## Create or upload a Skill

From **Extensions → Skills**, select **Add Skills** and choose one of the following:

- **Create with Qoder**: opens a new task that guides you through creating a personalized Skill. The result is kept on this device.
- **Upload Skill**: imports a Skill ZIP file or a `SKILL.md` file to this device.

Before importing a Skill, inspect its instructions, scripts, and referenced resources. Treat scripts and external requests as executable code from the Skill author.

## Verify and troubleshoot

After installation or import:

1. Confirm that the Skill appears under **Installed**.
2. Type `/` in a new task and check that the Skill appears in the suggestion list.
3. Run a small, low-risk example and verify the output before using it for production work.

If a Skill is not suggested, confirm that it is installed, check that your request matches its description, and try selecting it explicitly with `/`. If the marketplace does not load, refresh it and check your network connection.
